Call for Applications — IPS News Fellowship 2024
Singapore local journalists are invited to apply for the Institute of Policy Studies (IPS) News Fellowship.
The Fellowship is designed to provide outstanding mid-career journalists with an opportunity to take a short sabbatical from their regular work and spend three months (September to November 2024) at IPS to write a research paper or monograph, or conduct a project (video or other mediums) on a societal issue in Singapore.
The Institute will support the Fellows by providing them with access to academic resources, as well as opportunities to engage and interact with researchers who are subject matter experts and specialise in qualitative or quantitative research methods. Successful applicants will take on a full-time visitor position at the National University of Singapore and receive a monthly stipend of $5000.
The Fellowship is open to Singapore citizens who have at least three years’ experience in the media industry.
To apply, candidates will have to submit a cover letter outlining their experience in the media industry and why they should be chosen for the News Fellowship. This letter should be no longer than 800 words, and include their proposal for their research idea. Candidates will also have to submit their curriculum vitae, as well as three samples of their work in English, or translated to English. News organisations are welcome to nominate their journalists for the Fellowship.
An Advisory Committee will review the applications and select the most competent candidates, based on the fulfilment of eligibility criteria. The committee members include experienced editors Alan John and Zuraidah Ibrahim, IPS Principal Research Fellow Dr Carol Soon and IPS Associate Director (Communications & Public Affairs) Liang Kaixin.
Applications are open now and will close on 15 May 2024 (Wednesday). Please fill in the applications here: https://bit.ly/3xkjAjQ
