IPS News Fellow - Justin Ong

Justin ONG is a Senior Journalist with news publication TODAYonline, where he covers manpower, transport and sports. He first joined TODAY in 2018 as an intern, before returning on a full-time basis in 2019. Among the biggest stories he had covered were the Trump-Kim Summit in 2018, the 2020 General Elections and the 2023 Presidential Elections, as well as the takeover of the Sports Hub by the Singapore Government in 2022. Outside of his role at TODAY, Justin has a hobby in long-distance running, and takes part in marathons. 

In his stint at IPS in its inaugural News Fellowship, Justin will be embarking on a research project on the rising ownership and obsession with pets in Singapore, and exploring its relationship with the nation’s declining fertility rates.
