As part of the Institute of Policy Studies’ project, Reimagining Singapore 2030, where we discuss how we can achieve happiness, prosperity and progress for our nation in 2030 and beyond, we are presenting a series of three online forums with Singaporean changemakers.

At each forum, we will ask our special guests to tell us about the change that has taken place in their domains of work over recent years, the change they hope to see over the next decade, and their reflections on the processes by which to effect positive social change in our country.

In discussing scenarios of the future, this set of forums will perform an important function. It will gather views on the sorts of resources, strategies, leadership qualities and mindset of both changemakers and citizens that are needed to ensure that Singapore is a resilient, liveable and loveable city of opportunities and excellence in the emerging post-COVID world.

The series will result in a report on the process of changemaking and inform the final recommendation phase of Reimagining Singapore 2030.

• Forum on Well-Being and Belonging

  This forum focuses on work — in the domains of health and mental well-being, low-income communities and migrant workers — that contributes to a caring, inclusive and vitalising community for all who call Singapore home.

• Forum on Sustainability and Liveability

  This forum focuses on policies, programmes and action in the domains of climate change, sustainability, and urban design that enable us to craft the sort of city-scape that we would like to live, work and play in, here in Singapore.
  
  In doing this, the forum is set within an exploration of most essential notion of “sustainability” which is that of stewarding our ecological, physical and social resources to meet the needs of the day without compromising the ability of future generations to do the same, in this small island-state and the region it is part of.

• Forum on Corporate Policies and Culture
  

  This forum focuses on changemaking in the corporate world of Singapore — from promoting inclusive employment to eradicate discrimination of all forms and to empower workers, to sustainable employment to support the development of long-term career pathways and the flourishing of all human talent. Advocates for gender and racial diversity, the inclusion of people with special needs, the introduction of flexible work arrangements and other progressive human resource practices will be asked how they overcame barriers to translating their ideas and convictions into reality.
