The Institute of Policy Studies will hold its annual flagship Singapore Perspectives (SP) conference, from 11, 13, 17 and 24 January 2022. The theme of this year’s conference is “City”. In this conference, we will engage intellectually with Mr S. Rajaratnam’s vision for Singapore to be a truly global city. We will explore how Singapore can further actualise this vision by extending beyond the physical city to embrace new digitally-enabled financial, economic and social spaces. In doing so, we hope to answer the question: how can Singapore continue to succeed as a global city and a city-state in the 21st century? Drawing from the perspectives of leading urban thinkers, practitioners and researchers, Singapore Perspectives 2022 will kick off with an online pre-conference dialogue on 11 January. This will be followed by seven online forums on 13 and 17 January, and a conference day on 24 January. Complying with COVID-19 safety measures and depending on regulatory approvals at the time, the final conference day sessions will include in-person participation as well as being broadcast to an online audience. The online sessions will feature Minister for Health Mr Ong Ye Kung as well as leading thinkers, policymakers and industry leaders. These include Professor Saskia Sassen, Professor Chan Heng Chee, Mr George Yeo and Dr Liu Thai Ker. The final conference day on 24 January will close with a dialogue session with Minister for National Development Mr Desmond Lee. Please click here to view the programme.
