Synopsis:
Social Lab conducted an online survey on overseas Singaporeans. The aim of the survey was to gain a deeper understanding of the reasons behind OS living abroad, their concerns while doing so and their engagement with/affinity to Singapore and Singaporeans. The survey findings — and subsequent policy recommendations by IPS Social Lab — provided relevant and useful insights about our growing Singaporean diaspora. We intend to share the main conclusions of our findings publicly, and hope that this would promote discourse on how Singapore can better support our overseas Singaporeans and maintain our links with them even while they’re away.
Survey fieldwork ran from 12 May to 9 October 2017. We are immensely grateful to the 3,000 overseas Singaporeans who responded to our survey.
This study was supported by the Overseas Singaporean Unit (OSU) in the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth.
