Over two Saturdays in April and May 2023, about 90 Singaporeans shared their views at the IPS Public Deliberation on Fiscal Policies and National Reserves project. This reports on the surveys, budget game, and the discussions that were carried out at the workshops. Key observations include a fixed ordering to the use of government funds, a strong underpinning idea of prudence, a strengthening of opinion for the use of taxes rather than reserves to fund new state programmes, but also ideas for other productive uses of the reserves to deal with long-term threats to a strong, sustainable Singapore.
