The Young Singaporeans Conference (YSC) is a marquee event on the IPS calendar. Held biennially, the conference gathers young Singaporeans who have shown leadership or excellence in their respective fields to discuss issues of national interest and public policy. To read more about the YSC series and previous conferences, click here.
This year’s three-day conference is themed “Choices”. It provides opportunities for young Singaporeans to talk about their personal choices around life, work, home, and values — and how these are affected by and may affect Singapore in the year 2030.
This year, we will be selecting several participants for the conference via an Open Call. To express your interest in participating in YSC 2020, please make a submission in any of the following categories on the topic of “Choices” in the areas of happiness, prosperity, and progress, which the conference will be based on:
- Any form of written work of no more than 800 words
- A video of no longer than 2 minutes taken in landscape mode. Please upload the video to an online platform such as Google Drive or YouTube and share the link to the video in your submission.
A list of helpful prompts for each theme can be found here. You only need to address one theme in your submission.
Please send your submissions along with the completed online Personal Information Form, which you can find here. If you need to submit more information, please email to decb64_aXBzLnlzY0BudXMuZWR1LnNn_decb64. The deadline for submissions is Sunday, 4 October 2020.
Please note that only Singaporean citizens aged 18 to 30 are eligible to be selected for the conference.
In order to ensure diverse representation at the conference, the organisers reserve the right to select candidates for participation. Only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
