The FRN forum is an initiative to bring together a network of researchers, policy-makers and practitioners to engage in regular discussions on family research through a series of closed-door forums. Beyond information sharing, a major goal of the forum is to stimulate ideas for research as well as policies and programmes to assist stakeholders in their work.
This forum will focus on the holistic development of young children in Singapore. With the establishment of the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) in April 2013, significant resources have been committed to establish an integrated network of childcare centres and kindergartens across Singapore. What are the perceptions of parents and early childhood professionals of the quality of services provided by the pre-school centres at present? What is the current state of understanding and practices of parents and early childhood professionals on shaping early childhood temperament and cognitive development? The presentations at the forum will discuss the findings of recent research undertaken on the development of children in the early years in Singapore. The findings will be especially relevant to policymakers and practitioners from the early childhood sectors who are involved in shaping and developing early childhood policies and programmes.
As this is intended to be a closed-door forum, information and views disclosed and/or shared at the forum shall strictly not be disseminated, reported, published and/or shared in any media (including but not limited to social media such as blogging or tweeting) and/or in any form or manner whatsoever.
