The Institute of Policy Studies (IPS) and Tote Board invite you to the third virtual learning journey of the 2022 Transforming the Non-Profit Sector (TNPS) series.
When we learn, we think of being taught by a content expert in a classroom or training workshop. In a recent panel discussion that was a part of this series, we learned about collaborative learning circles that are facilitated by peers instead of experts. We discussed how we might be able to unlock the learning capacities of communities by accessing freely available educational resources and supporting learning with others in small peer groups. In this learning journey, we will engage in dialogue with the filmmakers of the School Circles documentary, who have researched and filmed participatory educational systems across the world. We will learn how schools can become places that allow students to participate in decisions about school policies, determine their own learning journey, and value their unique strengths and abilities.
TNPS is a three-year partnership between IPS and Tote Board that aims to enhance the capabilities of non-profit organisations as well as support public-private-people partnerships. The theme for this year is “Solutions That Help Us Help One Another”, where we will highlight the often-neglected “impulse from the ground” and how non-profits can harness existing assets and consider new ways to help communities help themselves. We will examine how mutual aid, professional help and philanthropic giving can play mutually supportive and complementary roles in the non-profit sector to unlock the hidden potential and untapped capacities of communities.
