What do Singaporeans care about when they go to the polls? What do they think of democracy in Singapore? Have these political attitudes changed over time? What are the factors that shape these attitudes?
IPS has been conducting surveys to answer these questions over the past decades through its post-election research and its participation in a cross-national study called the Asian Barometer Survey on Democracy, Governance and Development or “ABS” for short.
This forum will allow its researchers to share their analyses of Singaporeans’ political attitudes captured through this research. They will examine the effects of demographic and other sociological factors, more complex political variables, media consumption patterns, and the understanding of the political institutions that voters have.
Other Singaporean scholars will be invited to share their insights to enrich the understanding of Singapore voters who are at the heart of political development of the country.
