International Conference on Innovation and Integration for Development (VIID 2025) Navigating Global Trade and Economic Development Uncertainties in the Age of Protectionist Policies and Geopolitical Turmoil

Promoting innovation is indispensable to achieving sustainable development in an increasingly globalized yet uncertain world. The Conference on Innovation and Integration for Development (VIID), initiated by the Foreign Trade University (FTU) in collaboration with the Asia Competitiveness Institute (ACI) at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore, provides a platform to explore the role of innovation and international integration in fostering sustainable growth.

Today’s global economy faces persistent challenges such as climate change, protectionist trade policies, and geopolitical tensions. Reports from leading institutions including the IMF, OECD, and ADB in 2025 warn of heightened uncertainty, divergent growth paths, and increasing fragmentation.

Amid these shifts, ASEAN economies confront both risks and opportunities as supply chains and trade networks are redefined. With deeper cooperation and forward-looking innovation, the region can continue to shape its own trajectory as a dynamic engine of growth.

VIID 2025 provides a timely platform for scholars, policymakers, and business leaders to exchange insights on navigating global trade and economic development uncertainties through innovation, collaboration, and sustainable strategies.
