On 17 July 2017, IPS released a report on parents’ perceptions of the Singapore primary school system. This was based on a survey of 1,500 parents with children in nearly every primary school. The findings can be found here and were extensively reported by the local press.
The report covered many areas, including overall perceptions of the education system, parents’ conceptualisation of a “good school”, and parental stress due to the child’s education.
Following the press coverage, we have distilled key talking points for further deliberation. This event will bring together scholars, policymakers, educators and other key stakeholders to discuss issues such as the notion of “every school a good school”, academic stress, curriculum, tuition and the future education landscape.
