Dr Wong Chin Yi is Research Fellow at IPS Social Lab. Chin Yi is a psychological researcher by training, with a focus on cognitive processes and individual differences, and obtained his PhD in Cognitive Psychology at NUS.
Chin Yi’s research experiences in his current role extend to diverse domains such as developmental pathways and trajectories of households and patterns of financial literacy among Singaporeans. He is also involved in programme and impact evaluation work, for a wide range of programmes with focal areas ranging from enhancing social resilience, to advancing science and nature.
Prior to joining IPS, Chin Yi worked in the public service, dealing with planning and research for the correctional sector. In this role, he was involved in a variety of research projects with government entities, academic experts and community partners. Through these projects, he had the opportunity to work with disadvantaged segments of the population in understanding and serving their needs.
In addition, Chin Yi has teaching experiences in psychology as well as research methods and statistics at the tertiary level, for both undergraduates and polytechnic students.
