Sarah Chan is a Research Assistant at the Institute of Policy Studies (IPS) Social Lab.
Sarah holds a Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) in Psychology with a second major in Sociology from the National University of Singapore.
At IPS, Sarah was part of the project team for “Baseline Study for Health District @ Queenstown” where she conducted in-depth interviews, and coordinated project management and fieldwork operations. She also has experience in online panel management.
Prior to joining IPS, Sarah volunteered extensively with youths and led projects in the mental health landscape during her undergraduate years. Through her community engagements, Sarah developed an interest in mental health advocacy and preventive mental health interventions, particularly those that support individuals during their formative years. Her interests include the impact of interpersonal relationships on well-being, as well as the role of service learning in mental health education.
Sarah is also trained in mass communication and has experience in content production. Her background in media has shaped her interest in improving accessibility in the learning environment that is informed by empathy-based approaches.
