Internship Programme – Institute of Policy Studies (IPS)

The Institute of Policy Studies (IPS) is a policy research think-tank in the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore. IPS has a limited number of internships available in the following two research areas and the IPS Social Lab. The research areas are:

  • Governance and Economy
  • Society and Culture 

Job description:
Interns can expect to be assigned tasks that range from compiling data to doing literature reviews, helping to organise meetings, note-taking and transcribing meeting minutes, and fact-checking and writing reports. There will be opportunities to attend conferences, meetings and discussions organised by IPS, and to network with and learn from senior IPS researchers.

The job scope includes:

  • Conducting literature searches, literature reviews, bibliographical compilations, and obtaining references and articles from libraries
  • Taking notes at meetings and transcribing them; fact-checking and writing reports
  • Administrative and other supporting work, such as managing correspondence, filing, copying, and cataloguing of books

Applicants must:

  • Possess a keen interest in current affairs and public policy in Singapore
  • Be highly motivated with a strong sense of initiative
  • Preferably commit to working office hours for a minimum period of six weeks
  • Be in at least their second year of undergraduate studies, or are undertaking postgraduate studies
