CAG welcomes Drew Thompson

Drew Thompson BiopicThe Centre on Asia and Globalisation is pleased to welcome Visiting Senior Research Fellow, Drew Thompson.

Drew specializes in China’s security policy and US-China relations. He previously served for seven years in the Pentagon as the Director for China, Taiwan and Mongolia in the Office of the Secretary of Defense.  Prior to his government service he worked in think tanks in Washington and the private sector in China.  His research and past publications examined China’s policy-making processes in the security, foreign policy, and public health sectors.

Drew will teach a class on US-China relations, and will participate in programs in the Centre on Asia and Globalization and the MIA program.  His research will focus on US-China Relations, China-North Korea relations, and China’s relations with countries on its periphery.

Drew has an MA in Government and Homeland Security from Johns Hopkins University, a certificate in Chinese Studies from the Johns Hopkins University-Nanjing University Center for Chinese and American Studies.  He did his undergraduate studies at Hobart College and Beijing University.
