Young Singaporeans Conference 2012: "Are Young Singaporeans Happy?"

One of IPS' flagship programmes is the Young Singaporeans Conference (YSC). Held biennially, the YSC gathers young Singaporeans, between the ages of 25 and 35, who have shown leadership or excellence in their respective fields of endeavour to discuss issues of national interest.

The YSC revolves around interactive exchanges between distinguished speakers and participants. It encourages independence of thought on current policy, debate on policy options and an exploration of the strategic challenges facing the country. The conference always closes with a dialogue session with a Cabinet Minister. This year it will be Education Minister Heng Swee Keat.

YSC 2012 will examine the theme of happiness. Are young Singaporeans happy? If they are, what makes them happy? If they are not, what can be done to promote a higher level of happiness among young Singaporeans and the nation as a whole? Aside from the government, how can other sectors of society contribute to making Singaporeans happier?
