IPS Closed-Door Discussion on Rental Discrimination

Earlier this year, international market research and analytics firm YouGov released their survey findings suggesting that a sizeable number of people have faced rental discrimination in Singapore. The basis of such discrimination has been along racial and nationality lines. While many find such discrimination unacceptable, others contend that home owners have the right to have their preferences about who is to live in their homes.

This CDD will examine the notion of rental discrimination, surface best practices to reduce incidences of rental discrimination (whether real or perceived) and discuss opportunities and challenges posed in legislating on rental discrimination.
