ACI Annual Research Conference 2024 on De-Risking, Reshoring, Integrating:  Implications for ASEAN Economic Development

In an era of escalating geopolitical tensions and trade disputes, a great supply chain reset is unfolding. ASEAN emerges as a popular alternate destination for countries that seek to de-risk and diversify supply chains for economic resilience. Concomitantly, countries worldwide are also reshoring for domestic job creation. Amid such global policy upheavals, ASEAN continues to integrate, bolstered by free trade agreements and a burgeoning middle class. How can ASEAN navigate this wave of de-risking and reshoring, and push forth the integration frontier?

Asia Competitiveness Institute (ACI) Annual Research Conference 2024 on De-risking, Reshoring, Integrating will examine the prospects of ASEAN economic development, focusing on: 1) Reconfiguring Trade and Investments, 2) Integrating ASEAN Digital Economies. The first session will explore the impact of de-risking and rising protectionism on trade and FDI in ASEAN. The second session will delve into ASEAN integration, focusing on digital trade, e-commerce, and technological innovation.
