IWP researchers conducted a by-invitation-only workshop to present the “Best Practices in Urban Water Demand Management in ASEAN” guidebook at the Singapore International Water Week (SIWW) 2022. The workshop, attended by the ASEAN Working Group on Water Resources Management (AWGWRM) members, discussed the guidebook’s objective, method, structure, key findings, and proposed next steps in water demand management implementation for ASEAN countries.
The workshop's welcome remarks were from Dr. Vong Sok (Head of the Environment Division and Assistant Director of the Sustainable Development Director, at the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community Department of the ASEAN Secretariat), and the opening address was presented by Mr. Michael Toh (Director, PUB, Singapore). Following that, the workshop invited ASEAN Member State representatives to contribute to a guided review and discussion of the status of water demand management from the perspective of their respective countries. Mr. Moh Tiing Liang (Deputy Director, PUB, Singapore) closed the event.
SIWW is one of the leading international water events, which brings together thought leaders, experts and practitioners from governments, utilities, academia and industry to share and co-create innovative solutions to address pressing urban water security challenges globally. In 2022, this event was held in-person from 17 to 21 April at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre.
