Policy Dialogues
IES plans and convenes multi-stakeholder policy dialogues on specific and relevant topics on sustainability and the environment from a public policy perspective. These dialogues generate knowledge and awareness of policy problem conceptions, potential policy tools and mixes, and disseminate best practices among other valuable impacts toward generating fit-for-purpose policy solutions.
There are three distinct types of policy dialogues.
First, shorter exploratory policy dialogues that convene a targeted group of recognized experts, policymakers, and other stakeholders on a given topic. Learnings from exploratory policy dialogues are captured in written form by accompanying policy briefs published and made available by IES.
Second, longer in-depth policy design dialogues that engage a wider group of stakeholders which are typically based on exploratory policy dialogues to extend analyses toward identifying and developing specific policy tools and policy mixes to address the given policy problem. These may be held in conjunction with other organizations to broaden the range of participants and input. Learnings from policy design dialogues are captured in written form by accompanying policy reports published and made available by IES.
Third, high-level policy dialogues that engage high-level government officials, business leaders, and similarly situated stakeholders to generate support and disseminate policy learnings to a broader audience.
