A brief jury report is as follows:
Climate Change and declining outdoor working hours in AsiaMehtab Ahmed JagilThe writer discussed the impact of heat waves on outdoor labour in Asia, which is a very relevant and current topic in view of climate change and the recent extreme heat in India. The essay proposes a dual-pronged approach with subsidies and insurances to create incentives for adaptation and reduce vulnerability of outdoor workers. Although the essay could benefit from a sharper focus, it ranks one of the best among the entries.
Combating Rising Sea Level in Southeast AsiaQuek Yi Ching DaphneThe writer discussed the rising sea level issue in southeast Asia, which is of high relevance and importance to climate change.
