Pre-enrolment medical examination

All NUS graduate students will also have to undergo a compulsory pre-enrolment medical examination. The pre-enrolment medical examination report form is provided together with the letter of offer of admission.

Medical examination for student pass

A medical examination is needed for all foreigners who apply for employment and immigration passes (including student passes). A student who does not pass the medical examination will be required to return to his / her home country as the relevant pass cannot be issued by the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) under such a circumstance. Arrangements for medical examination

Students can make their own arrangements for the medical examinations and submit the reports to the School in the first week of their programme, or they can undergo the medical examinations during the first week of the programme at a clinic and time arranged by the School.

NUS Group Medical Insurance Scheme

All full-time graduate students are required to take up a health insurance scheme that covers hospitalisation/surgical expenses. They are insured under the NUS Group Medical Insurance Scheme (GMIS). The fee is S$117.70 for each academic year. The fee is included in the Mandatory Miscellaneous Fees portion of the student bill on a semester basis.

Managed Healthcare System

Student pass

Student pass applications are made online at the website of the Singapore Immigration and Checkpoints Authority at http://app.ica.gov.sg/index.asp. Information on the Student’s Pass Online Application and Registration (SOLAR) system will made available to candidates after they have been offered admission to the School.

Postal Services

BTC: Self-service Automated Machine (SAM) outside canteen at Multipurpose Auditorium

KRC: Located near YIH, the Kent Ridge Post Office provides full facilities such as telegram, telex, telefax, IDD calls, speedpost, LUM service, renewal of TV and driving licences, settling of Power Supply and SingTel bills, purchasing of money order, etc. There are two public card-phones at the side of the Post Office for local and overseas calls. A machine for taking instant passport photographs is also available.

NUS Remote Access

NUS Remote Access is the means by which you can connect to the NUS Network without needing to be physically on-campus. NUS Computer Centre maintains a large pool of modems by which you can connect to the NUSNET IV network, for the use of NUS Intranet functions as well as access to the wider Internet.

Dialup Configuration

The information here explains how to configure your personal computer to use this resource, and, for the curious/more interested, what remote access networking is and how it works. Note, however, that although this Remote Access service is provided exclusively for your use as a member of NUS, you should refrain from using the NUS dialup network for non-academic purposes.

Graduate programmes in NUS are either coursework-based or research-based. Research-based programmes include a thesis component. Applications to research-based programmes are administered by the NUS Office of the University Registrar (OUR) while those to coursework-based ones at administered by the respective faculties and schools.

At the LKYSPP, coursework-based programmes include the Master in Public Policy (MPP), Master in Public Administration (MPA) and Master in Public Management (MPM). The only research-based programme at the LKYSPP is the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).
