“Tech for Good” – The Better Angels of our Digital Technology

With a nod to “The Better Angels of Our Nature,” a popular book published a few years ago by Harvard professor Steven Pinker which made the convincing argument that our era is less violent than any previous period of human existence, this panel would like to discuss and showcase how digital technology is helping the world to be a better place. We have all become aware of the risks and disruptions that new technologies carry with their pervasive use in our lives and societies. However, this panel aims to focus on the “bright side” of digital technology. Panelists are encouraged to share their knowledge, experience, and concrete cases/projects/examples on how digital technology helps in addressing and solving complex societal needs and problems. Being a public policy School, we are interested to explore ways in which digital technology can help to deliver “public goods.”
