The objectives of the network are to:
- To bring together academics, practitioners, policy makers with interest in non-profit sector to bridge the gaps between research and practice so that research findings can be translated to actionable insights with implications for policy and practice.
- To mobilise research attention, expertise and resources in order to avail them to VWOs who are under-equipped to leverage on research to improve services, and to inform policies that affect the social service sector as a whole.
- To encourage academics, policymakers and non-profit organisations to have a closer working relationship with one another in relation to translating research into service delivery. Create network of reciprocal knowledge flow between academic, agencies and government.
- To encourage non-profit agencies’ input into research so as to identify areas of research need, solicit ideas for research questions and possible use of findings.
The theme for this session is “Mobilising Assets to Meet Social Needs”.
There will be a panel discussion to discuss the various aspects of mobilising assets to meet social needs from engaging the community to identify assets, to participatory action in mobilising assets in the community, as well as utilising assets as tools for social change.
Panelists will include representatives from academic institutions, research centres, community arts and voluntary welfare organisations.
There will be a breakout session where you will have ample time to look at translating mobilisation of assets to meet social needs within the contexts of the main social service sub-sectors that you are interested in. Views put forward during the session will be collected and subsequently published.
