Singapore Budget 2024: How far forward?

Singapore’s 2024 Budget comes at a time of intense debate about rising costs of living, support for older workers and the affordability of homeownership. It also marks a politically significant time, being the first budget exercise following the release of the Forward SG report in October 2023, coming in the same year as a planned leadership transition in the PAP and, as some observers have suggested, may be the final budget before the next General Election. This budget is a test of balance between immediate pressures and larger goals, as the 4G leadership looks to refresh Singapore’s social compact and address long-term priorities like climate change and crisis resilience. Join our panel of experts in social policy, gender equality, environmental sustainability and personal finance as they discuss what Budget 2024 means for Singapore.
