Singapore Budget 2023: What Does It Mean for Me?

The annual budget is a major policy event setting out the government’s priorities and plan of action for the coming fiscal year. It carries the weight of our collective commitment towards meeting challenges in our society: how to promote economic vibrancy, social inclusion and environmental sustainability. This year also marks a point of departure from the pandemic-focused budgets since 2020 and a re-orientation towards the future and longer term. This panel discussion brings together experts from fields such as economics, environment, health, housing and social policy to decode and discuss this year’s budget: what policy shifts are surprising or significant; how it addresses social pressures and concerns; what it means for different segments of society; and how it affects Singapore’s outlook and resilience.
