Pontiac Land-IPS Thought Leaders Lunch with Professor Wang Gungwu

As one of Asia’s brightest minds, Professor Wang Gungwu is a familiar name in Singapore and among academics. The prominent historian has penned countless articles and numerous books on China, and in June 2020 was awarded the Tang Prize in Sinology* for his work on the history of China and Chinese overseas. More recently, Prof. Wang co-authored Home is Where We Are with Mrs Margaret Wang, an autobiography which explores the ideas of identity and belonging as well as the ability of the individual to find a place amidst the historical currents that have shaped Asia.

Join us in the first Pontiac Land-IPS Thought Leaders Lunch for 2021 as we invite Prof. Wang to share his thoughts behind the book, as well as the lessons learnt through a lifetime of experiences. The session will be held over the Zoom teleconferencing platform, with IPS arranging for a specially curated meal to be delivered to each participant.

*The Tang Prize in Sinology recognises the study of Sinology in its broadest sense, awarding research on China and its related fields, such as Chinese thought, history, philology, linguistics, archaeology, philosophy, religion, traditional canons, literature, and art (excluding literary and art works). Honouring innovations in the field of Sinology, the Prize showcases Chinese culture and its contributions to the development of human civilisation.
