Prof Mahbubani is one of Singapore’s most famous diplomats and public intellectuals. He has two degrees in Philosophy. He spent 33 years in the Singapore Foreign Service, rising to the top as the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He served twice as Singapore’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN), with his second appointment coinciding with Singapore’s membership on the UN Security Council. He was the founding Director of the Civil Service College and Founding Dean of the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy. Prof Mahbubani has become a champion of the Asian Century.
