The question of workforce growth is integral to the discussion of Singapore’s long-term population policy. That issue is itself determined by assumptions about the growth of local workforce, productivity levels, the force of innovation and changes in the economic structure in Singapore. Ultimately, these will be shaped by targets of economic, job and wage growth as well as an understanding of society’s absorptive capacity of foreigners and Singaporeans’ aspirations for their lives and that of future generations.
Acting Minister, Mr Lawrence Wong of the Ministry of Community, Culture and Youth, and the Honorable, Mr Yee Jenn Yong, Non-Constituency Member of Parliament, of the Workers’ Party, will share their views on the future of Singapore’s workforce from 2013 to 2030.
