At this forum that is part of the IPS Online Post-GE2020 Series, members of the political parties that have representation in the 14th Parliament of Singapore will share their own analysis of what shaped the outcomes of GE2020. As it follows two forums where detailed analysis of electoral attitudes and use of media by the Institute of Policy Studies’ researchers have been presented, these representatives will provide their own sense-making of the data as well.
More importantly, they will share plans on developing their membership, supporters and the voter base between now and the next general election. Given the ruling People’s Action Party’s expression that it expects its vote share to hover around the low-60s in future elections with a clear role for opposition parties to meet Singaporeans’ desire for a diversity of views in parliament, will the parties view the results of GE2020 as a new normal in political pluralism?
