Disability Community Network Roundtable II: Education

This is the second meeting of the Disability Community Network (DCN), which will focus on the topic of Education for persons with disabilities.

First mooted in October 2017, the purpose of the DCN is to facilitate greater mutual exchange, understanding and collaboration between voluntary welfare organisations, social enterprises, civil society groups and individuals interested in the disability sector. Besides small working groups that have been started to study specific issues, the DCN as a whole will also consolidate needs and gaps information that represent the collective views of its members.

These are the current objectives of the DCN, but they will be subject to on-going review and revision by members:
1. Knowledge of disability sector through consolidating insights and producing new information
2. Advise and advocate to the government on existing or emerging issues
3. Monitor the implementation of government policy
4. Peer exchange, learning and collaboration among members

As part of the DCN, meetings will be organised for you to share your ongoing and upcoming initiatives as well as give feedback on other organisations’ projects. It is also a great opportunity to discuss possible collaborations with other organisations in the disability community.

There will be four meetings this year to touch on key themes of interest. The first meeting was held on 11 May this year, and discussed issues surrounding the theme of Employment for persons with disabilities.
