[Cancelled] How to Make Better Decisions for Adaptation to Climate Change

The climate is changing and sea levels are rising. Adaptation has become inevitable. Governments around the word have started developing plans to protect their populations against increasing risks of floods, droughts, extreme heat and other climate change impacts. Over the next decades, billions of dollars will have to be invested in infrastructure and other adaptation measures. Many of these measures have significant impacts on people and environment, and are long-lived. Decision-making on such measures needs to deal with path dependency and large uncertainties from climate projections and socio-economic developments over the lifetimes of the measures. This session will discuss how to deal with path dependency and uncertainty in decision-making for climate adaptation.
