The Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy Bhutan Alumni Chapter organized a voluntary blood donation drive in coordination with We Care: Volunteer Blood Donors of Bhutan – a group dedicated to encouraging and making blood donation a 100 percent voluntary donation in Bhutan.
The blood donation drive was organized as a daylong event on Saturday 27 August 2016, coinciding with the 25th day of the sixth month of the lunar calendar, which is said to be an auspicious day to undertake such worthy activity. Participation was overwhelming, with more than 40 donors came for the event.
The LKY School Bhutan Chapter provided simple nutritious snack of pasteurized milk, cakes and biscuits to the donors. It also provided t-shirts with the logo of LKY School Bhutan Alumni on the front left chest and a blood donation emblem at the back of the shirt to the first 40 successful donors as a token of appreciation and a goodwill gift to showcase the generosity of the School.
The Head of the National Blood Bank made a personal visit to thank the alumni and to convey her genuine appreciation to LKY School for encouraging such noble activities and empowering people to make such good actions in life.
