John Emmanuel B. Villanueva is a Research Associate at the Case Study Unit and Social Inclusion Project of the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy (LKYSPP). Prior to joining the LKYSPP, John has served the Philippine government for nine years as a civil servant researcher in various agencies. His general research interests are in the areas of governance, institutions, and development, while specific research involvement includes studies on labor markets, skills development, qualifications frameworks, trade and employment, future of work, green jobs, decentralization, and political dynasties. John has a Master of Public Administration major in Public Policy and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of the Philippines (UP)-National College of Public Administration and Governance and UP School of Economics, respectively.
