IWP's Senior Research Fellow, Dr. Cecilia Tortajada is one of the distinguished panellists in the upcoming
IWRA webinar on Water Reuse in the Circular Economy on 17 June. This webinar will discuss how a new approach for water resources management focusing on linking water inputs and outputs in a more holistic structure can be beneficial to addressing both global and localized water scarcity and to more broader goals for a sustainable future.
Dr. Tortajada will discuss the contribution of water reuse in the circular economy in Singapore among others. Singapore is one of the most advanced countries when it comes to water reuse. Highly treated reclaimed wastewater, called NEWater, currently provides up to 40% of Singapore's current water needs and this is expected to go up to 55% by 2060. To support PUB, Singapore's National Water Agency, in policy development surrounding the implementation and adoption of NEWater, IWP has conducted and is conducting a number of research projects, including behavioural and governance studies.
