GSPP, Nazarbayev University launches its new MPA programme with the help of LKY School

Graduate School of Public Policy, Nazarbayev University launched its new Master in Public Administration (MPA) programme with the help of strategic partner Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, NUS on 28 March 2015.

MPA consists of 15 bright student candidates whom were selected from candidates from the public, private and non-governmental sectors in Kazakhstan and have a wide range of backgrounds; from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Ms. Aziza Yeshmagambetova, Third secretary to University of Cambridge graduate Mr Ilyas Zhukenov and Mr. Kazbek Kuzhimov who is the Senior Prosecutor at Prosecutor’s Office of Astana.

The programme will be co-taught by NUGSPP and LKY School Faculty throughout three trimesters where LKY School Faculty Prof. Zeger van der Wal, Assistant Dean (Research) & Associate Professor started to teach course “Pubic Administration in theory and practice” in the first trimester and is followed by Mr. Donald Low, Associate Dean (Research and Executive Education) and Prof. Assistant Professor in third trimester where they offer “Financial Management, Accountability and Performance” and Prof. Vu Minh Khuong, Associate Professor will teach “ Data models and decisions” respectively.

LKY School representatives led by Prof. Eduardo Araral, Prof. Zeger van der Wal and Ms. Jansulu Abdikyerim also attended the orientation programme of the MPA where Prof. Zeger van der Wal provided Academic session on essay writing and followed by Welcome Dinner hosted by LKY School in the evening. Dr. Shigeo Katsu, President also took a part at the dinner and welcomed new batch of MPA students.
