13 Jan 2025

In Mohnish Kedir’s review of the book titled "Getting Schools to Work Better: Educational Accountability and Teacher Support in India and China", written and published by LKYSPP PhD alumni Dr Yifen Yan, he said it explores a multi-method case study of government middle schools in Beijing and Delhi, providing fresh insights on how educational accountability can be designed, in part and as a whole.

Mohnish, who is a current LKYSPP PhD student, said: "I wrote this book review to underscore the significance of comparative public policy studies. By examining the approaches of India and China, we can glean insights that transcend geopolitics and focus on shared challenges and solutions. The review informs readers about efforts which contribute to the discourse on the future of education in Asia, highlighting the potential for collaboration and mutual learning. Engaging deeply with Yifei Yan's work has enriched my own knowledge, allowing me to appreciate the nuanced dynamics of educational accountability and teacher support. Reading this review, I hope readers will explore and value the complexities of education policies in the two countries and the opportunities to learn from each other on how to design better accountability systems.”
