The LKYSPP Alumni Philippines Chapter, led by its Chapter Committee, hosted a send-off and welcome dinner for incoming students and recent graduates on 29 July 2024 at SEDA Hotel, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, Philippines. Prior to the dinner, the incoming LKYSPP students, along with the Chapter Committee, paid a visit to Ambassador Constance See and Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) Logaventhan Karuppannan at the Singapore Embassy.
The Embassy visit, which kicked off the event, was an opportunity for incoming LKYSPP students and future public policy professionals to engage in a discussion with Ambassador See and DCM Loga on various bilateral programs between the Philippines and Singapore. The fruitful conversations are a testament to the long-standing commitment of both countries to be thought leaders in the region on various issues that affect the region.
Afterwards, the send-off and welcome dinner proceeded with a welcome message from Chapter Committee President Jong Cornelio (MPA 2010). Throughout the dinner, the newest members of the LKYSPP community were able to interact with the participating alumni, who were able to give valuable advice on maximizing one’s potential as an LKYSPP and NUS student or alumni, as well as the significance of the Singaporean framework of policymaking in pursuing a career as a public policy professional.
The dinner also marks the formal welcome for recent graduates into the alumni network. Recent graduates can expect several more opportunities to integrate further with the LKYSPP and NUS alumni network, such as dinner reception in celebration of the National Day of Singapore, the NUS Day of Service, and the incoming celebration of LKYSPP’s 20th Anniversary.
