The Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy (LKYSPP) organised a dinner on Friday, 23 November 2018, to honour the recipients of LKYSPP Alumni Awards. Mr. Chan Sek Keong, Former Chief Justice of Singapore, graced the occasion as the Guest-of-Honour.

In his welcome remarks, Professor Danny Quah (Dean and Li Ka Shing Professor in Economics) highlighted the importance of the School’s alumni. Despite being a young school with slightly over 3000 alumni, the School’s vision of transforming lives was carried forward by alumni whose dedication to public service spanned across various sectors and transcend international boundaries.

The first award of the night – LKYSPP Outstanding Alumni Award – was presented to Mr. Jack Sim (MPA 2013). In his introduction, Professor Kanti Bajpai (Director, Centre on Asia and Globalisation and Wilmar Professor of Asian Studies) commended Mr. Sim for his work with the World Toilet Organization on improving toilet and sanitation conditions worldwide.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Sim thanked the School for placing its trust in him and promised to do everything in his power to carry the flag of the School across the world.

The second award – LKYSPP Alumni Service Award – was presented to Mr. Wang Kejian (MPAM 2014) for his tireless work as the President of the LKYSPP Alumni Beijing Chapter.
In his introduction, Professor Chen Kang (Director (MPAM and Chinese Executive Education) and Visiting Professor) praised Mr. Wang for his commitment to fostering greater relations between Chinese alumni and the School.
Upon receiving his accolade, Mr. Wang thanked the School for his unforgettable time as a student. He concluded his speech by announcing his plan to build the LKYSPP Alumni Beijing Chapter into a think-tank in the near future.

At the event, the School also presented copies of ‘One World, Many Leaders – Spotlight on LKYSPP Alumni’, a book which featured stories from LKYSPP alumni awards honourable mentions. The electronic version of the book can be found here:
