The dialogue with Gita Wirjawan, organised by LKYSPP Alumni Singapore Chapter, brought together LKYSPP students and alumni for a discussion on what it takes for Southeast Asia to move up the value chain.
Drawing on his experience as Indonesia’s former trade minister, founder of Ancora and host of Endgame, he highlighted education as a foundation for the region’s development. Conversations explored the importance of closing educational attainment gaps, building workforce capabilities, strengthening innovation and enabling informed participation in policymaking. He also encouraged the region to learn from successful education systems, including Singapore’s, to accelerate progress. The session reinforced the importance of sustaining educational outcomes while rethinking how students learn.
