Is Fintech the Missing Piece to the Financial Inclusion Puzzle?

Technological innovation is accelerating the move towards cashless societies. At the same time, financial inclusion remains a crucial global challenge as advancements in FinTech are yet to reach the poorest of the poor. Nowhere is this more apparent than in the Asia-Pacific region. In Southeast Asia alone, studies estimate that more than 70% of the population remains unbanked. This number is appalling given the advances in mobile technology and the expanded reach of internet connectivity.

FinTech has the potential to significantly expand access to financial services through enhanced efficiencies and reduced costs. Fully delivering on FinTech’s potential to improve financial health and expand economic opportunity will require an unprecedented level of collaboration across the financial services ecosystem.

Join Richard Nash, Vice President and Head of Global Government Relations for PayPal, as he discusses FinTech as the key to fostering financial inclusion, what PayPal is doing to democratize financial services, and his own role in working with regulators across the world to fulfill this mission.
