In 2018, the Institute of Policy Studies (IPS) conducted a survey among nearly 100 Voluntary Welfare Organisations (VWOs) in Singapore performing social service functions. Funded by Tote Board, the IPS State of the Social Service Sector Survey sought to gather the views of VWO leaders on social needs and gaps as well as various strategic and policy issues. It also collected their feedback on organisational and research needs, and the support required to meet them.
This series of roundtables presents the findings of the survey for the purposes of collective sense-making, so that academics, policymakers, and VWOs can engage in a dialogue to understand the meanings and significance of these findings. We have arranged for three separate dates in June so that participants have the flexibility to come for a session of their choice.
Given that centrally led surveys are labour-intensive and expensive, we will also share the possibility of doing future surveys from the ground up, by crowdsourcing questions submitted by VWOs, who then address those questions themselves.
The three sessions will take place on:
- Friday, 12 June 2020
- Tuesday, 16 June 2020
- Wednesday, 24 June 2020
