On 9th September 2017, to commemorate NUS Day of Service, LKY School India Alumni Chapter – represented by committee members Sachin Sharma (Vice President) and Vineeta Hariharan (President) – visited GOONJ, an NGO in New Delhi.
They donated old clothes and household articles and dry ration, which the NGO would finally sort and process and distribute to the needy which include the flood victims of Bihar and Assam.

GOONJ (means an echo) is a multi award winning social enterprise focused to work on ignored basic needs like clothing, sanitary pad for village and slum India while changing the dynamics of giving and receiving with dignity.

Using the city’s discard and vast quantities of untapped underutilised material lying in urban homes, GOONJ is fueling wide spread development work across villages in India. In doing so, GOONJ is trying to address both issues simultaneously without burdening either the giver or the receiver in the process.
