LKYSPP AlumnIdeas: A Public Policy Approach to Combating Fake News

Singapore’s Law Ministry has announced that new laws on regulating Singapore’s online space against fake news will be drafted sometime in 2018. The laws will specifically target individuals or organizations who spread fake news. A government survey found that three quarters of Singaporeans come across fake news on Social Networks like Facebook. Many, however are not able to decipher fake news from real news. How then should this be managed to ensure truth and trust in public communication?
