With China pursuing an intensive information and influence campaign in different parts of the world, different countries have been forced to react with new measures. The government of Sweden recently released a memorandum summarizing its outlook on relations with China, concluding that the government must improve its knowledge of conditions in China. Ambassador Kvarnström, who previously served in Beijing and in Sweden’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations provided his personal perspective on Sweden’s relationship with China, reviewing the memorandum and discussing its implications for Sweden’s foreign policy.
