Master in Public Administration (MPA)
The one-year full-time Master in Public Administration (MPA) programme prepares students for senior management roles in the public sector. It provides an intensive, interdisciplinary course of study for professionals who wish to work on increasingly complex issues shaping national, regional and global policies and projects.
Qualified MPA students have the opportunity to pursue a double degree, either with NUS Law School or NUS Business School.
Each MPA class comprises around 40–60 students from about 20 countries. Students are typically senior managers from the public and not-for-profit sectors as well as multilateral organisations. Below is a snapshot of some our MPA students.
“I have come to see an important aspect that would prepare me adequately for the future — Diversity. The School houses students and faculty from different countries, with different rich experiences to share.” | See Video

“I was part of a not-for-profit organisation and used to create social initiatives and campaigns. When I wanted to do my Master’s in Public Administration, I was very sure I wanted to do it in Asia. So I chose this School, it being the best here.” | See Video
“Before joining LKY School, I was working in India, in the financial inclusion and business development field. Being here in LKY School allows me to gain knowledge from a diverse set of classmates so that I could go back into doing business, but with a broader set of tools and connections to other regions.” | See Video
MPA students will be required to complete 40 Modular Credits and obtain at least a Cumulative Average Point (CAP) of 3.0. There will be common curriculum which focuses on imparting practical skills, disciplinary knowledge, and interdisciplinary competencies necessary for the work done by policy practitioners, researchers, public managers and leaders.

Governance Study Project
MPA students will have to undertake a year-long Governance Study Project, which consists of a study trip to a neighbouring country and a student conference.
In December 2014, the MPA students visited India to study and research on the Ganga Rejuvenation projects which are on-going. They had the opportunity to meet stakeholders to work on a policy issue and come up with recommendations. By analysing these real-life policy issues, students will learn how to resolve complex managerial problems through research, writing and conference presentation.
The School also offers double degree programmes with the NUS Business School and the NUS Faculty of Law. Places for the double degree programme with NUS is highly competitive. Click here for more details.
