Interim Position Available: Secretary General, PECC International Secretariat

The Pacific Economic Cooperation Council (PECC) invites applicants to apply for an interim appointment, for roughly 11 months, as Secretary General of the PECC International Secretariat. The interim appointee would be eligible to apply for a permanent appointment following an extensive search process to be concluded at the end of 2025.

PECC is a non-profit, policy-oriented, regional organization dedicated to the promotion of a stable and prosperous Asia-Pacific. PECC is a think tank dedicated to the rapid economic development of the Asia-Pacific region through greater cooperation in trade and finance among member economies. The PECC International Secretariat is headquartered in Singapore.

Job Scope

  • Proven networking abilities both among PECC’s members as well as external stakeholders
  • Coordinating international projects between economies primarily focused on APEC and other regional cooperation processes
  • Act as the head of the Secretariat, taking responsibility for its day-to-day management
  • Contribute to the development of the research agenda for PECC
  • Ability to initiate research projects to be undertaken by experts from PECC and work with an international committee to conduct annual survey and draft report on the State of the Region
  • Communicate the results of the research to the international community
  • Write short briefs on the work of PECC delivered to various high-level audiences
  • Fundraising

Qualifications

Applicants should fulfil the following criteria:

  • A Masters’ degree in international relations or related topics or 5 years or more work experience in a related field
  • Have the capability to ably represent PECC before various events organized by member committees, regional and international bodies and forums on the substance of PECC’s policy recommendations
  • Possess the ability to identify critical policy issues or challenges to be met by the Asia-Pacific community and initiate appropriate studies or research projects addressing those issues together with Task Force coordinators
  • Fundraising ability in cooperation with PECC members
  • Possess demonstrated administrative skills, networking, and leadership capabilities for the effective management of the routine operations of the PECC International Secretariat

Given the initial short-term duration of the role and the absence of funding to cover material moving expenses, candidates from Singapore or nearby are preferred.
