The Position:
Under the overall supervision and mentoring of the Chief, the intern will support the UNFPA Seoul Representation Office (SRO) to explore, develop, and support UNFPA’s engagement in Singapore. A learning plan will be developed with the selected intern at the beginning of the internship to ensure full learning, with close career mentoring actively provided.

Work Format:
The intern is expected to work part-time at the UNFPA Seoul Representation Office and engage virtually.
You Would be Responsible for:
The key duties are:
- Support the Chief of the Seoul Representation Office by providing support to engagement with Singapore;
- Contribute to strategic communications in/through the Representation Office;
- Contribute to environmental scanning and opportunity mapping of engagement in
Singapore, track possible partners’ interests, assist in identifying potential partners in the Government, private sector, academia, humanitarian community, NGOs, etc;
- If and as required, explore and support in logistical, protocol, and liaison tasks for the
event(s), including coordinating with various internal and external stakeholders, offering relevant assistance;
- Explore resource mobilization opportunities for UNFPA in Singapore, including
Reproductive Justice, Individual Giving Programme, private sector collaborations, and humanitarian funding opportunities;
- Non-traditional donor partnerships maintained and potential for new partnerships
explored, including private sector;
- Explore opportunities for UNFPA to engage and propose networking/ participation in events as opportunity arises;
- Support a communication plan, including presentations on UNFPA’s works for
Singaporean audience (students, NGOs, academia);
- Media coverage for Annual Global Symposium on Low Fertility and Ageing and
State of the World Population report;
- Any other duties
Qualification and Experiences:
To qualify for an internship with the UNFPA Internship Programme, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Currently enrolled in or have completed an undergraduate degree
- Enrolled in or have graduated from a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent) in international relations, social/political science, communications, development, gender or other related fields.
- Excellent proficiency in standard word processing and spreadsheet applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel. Skills in design software (e.g. Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva) is desirable
- Have demonstrated a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and a personal commitment to the ideals of the United Nations Charter; and have demonstrated the ability to successfully interact with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and beliefs, including a willingness to listen, understand, and respect differing opinions and perspectives.
- Self-starter; able to work well without constant direction;
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English;
- Strong organizational skills and attention to details;
- General knowledge of international development policies, international affairs, and basic knowledge of the UN system is desirable;
- Previous experience related to the UNFPA’s areas of interest is an asset
Desirable: Experience in engaging with high-level stakeholders in complex environments, such as through public affairs.
