Yu Tao (Tony) Joined IB2 as Head of Business Development in China

In March 2020, MPM 2017 Alumnus Yu Tao (Tony) joined IB2 as the Head of Business Development in China to promote the state-of-art technology in mining refineries for much less energy and resources consumption and far less waste. 

In Tony's past 18-year professional career path, he won his reputation in his high integrity, enthusiasm, and career attainment both in and out of China.

Tony began as a trained engineer and gradually acquired a broad spectrum of comprehensive managerial skills, in-depth knowledge, and rich hands-on experience at a very senior-level in global fortune 500 companies in China and Singapore. He worked in China, SE. &West Asian, African, European, and S. American countries for business and project management. His high-profile network and experience can help liaise and materialize business opportunities and prevent and reduce the level of risks significantly. He is committed to making business more responsible and sustainable.

Tony commenced his career from a thermal engineer in China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation as soon as he graduated with his first master's degree in engineering from the University of Sci.& Tech. Beijing. Three years later, he joined the management team and gradually grew to be project manager first, then marketing, and project management director for the promotion of aerospace technology and its civil applications in Asia, Africa, and S. America through close collaboration with Airbus Space/Astrium and Thales Alenia Space. After joining China National Machinery Corporation, he took charge of global engineering projects as the head of engineering and business department. 

In 2016, he decided to take a career gap year with the full scholarship support and earned his second master's degree with merits and the Dean's leadership award in public management at the National University of Singapore(NUS) and Harvard University. He changed his career trajectory after graduation, and he joined the Singapore Winning International Group as the Chief Site Commander of the world's largest bauxite business in West Africa for two years. With his leadership and management, the group not only reshaped the world bauxite landscape but also became the world No. 1 bauxite producer with full recognition from NGO, world diplomats, local government, and peer companies because of the significant drop of accidents and the rise of corporate reputation. He was then transferred back to Singapore headquarters as the Assistant President (Vice-president level) of the group until the end of December 2019.
